iphone-4-imageAt the WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference) Steve Jobs introduced the new iPhone 4.

As expected, the new Apple iPhone 4 looks just like the leaked photos many of you witnessed on Gizmodo and other tech blog sites. There will also be a white version of the iPhone 4 as shown in the image below. The iPhone 4 is simply amazing if you ask me having the highest resolution ever in a phone, front facing camera, hi-definition video, 9.3 millimeters thin and a lot more.

The new iPhone 4 will feature an even faster A4 processor, a new high-resolution “retina display “rated at 326ppi (pixes per inch, human eye can only see 300ppi at 10 to 12 inches from the eye) at a resolution of 960×640 and a front facing camera for video chat via FaceTime. A new and improved battery touting 7 hours of 3G talk time, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10hours of video, 40 hours of WiFi browser, 40 hours of music and 300 hours or standby. Speaking of WiFi, the iPhone now has 802.11n built in for faster WiFi capabilities. The new camera on the iPhone captures High-Definition (HD) video as well at a resolution of up to 720p at 30 frames per second. With all of these new features I am totally sold. Not to mention, the new multitasking iOS4, no longer iPhone OS 4. It is now a developer platform for all of the “i” devices including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

FaceTime will be the choice for video chat utilizing the front-facing camera in the iPhone 4. The new iPhone 4 could very well replace digital cameras or even camcorders for those “light” video users with the included iMovie app. Why buy a new laptop and new digital camera if you can have all the editing and recording on your phone? The new camera is at 5 megapixels with a 4x digital zoom. The camera also has an LED light for a flash or can be left on as a video capture light.

The iPhone 4 will now feature the ability to read 6-axis of motion using the accelerometer and a new gyroscope. I wonder what game developers or other app developers will use this for?

AT&T will still be the exclusive carrier for the iPhone with a 6 month grace period for those who wish to upgrade while still within 6 months of their contract. Pricing for the iPhone 4 will start at $199 for the 32gb version and $299 for the 32gb. The current iPhone 3GS will now sell at $99. Major win for this price point in my opinion.

The iPhone 4 will go on sale June 24th with the new iOS4 released on June 21st for current iPhone users.
